Roborock S5 Max vs Roborock S50 vs Roborock S6: design
On the front, the new Roborock S5 Max looks similar to another two previous models. All of them comes with a compact design and there is a tower to house the LDS navigation sensor on the top. However, there are also some minor differences. The Roborock S5 Max has two buttons, one is power button, another is charging button. While the Roborock S50 and Roborock S6 have three buttons: power, charging and spot cleaning.
On the back, the Roborock S5 Max and Roborock S6 have 5 side brushes, while the Roborock S50 only has 3 side brushes. In addition, the Roborock S5 Max and Roborock S50 have 4 sensors, while the Roborock S6 offers 6 sensors for anti-drop.
What advanced features does the Roborock S5 Max offer?
As the latest model from Roborock robot vacuum cleaner lines, the Roborock S5 Max offers some new features that the Roborock S50 and Roborock S6 doesn’t have. These features include:
● Longer runtime. Thanks to the improved cleaning efficiency, the Roborock S5 Max can offer up to 180 minutes of non-stop cleaning, which is 30 minutes longer than that of Roborock S50 and Roborock S6.
● AI-powered recharge and resumption. The AI-powered algorithm makes the charging more intelligent. With that, the robot can calculate how much power it needs to finish the cleaning and then top-up its battery just enough to finish cleaning, so it doesn’t need to wait for a long time until it’s fully charged to continue the cleaning. While for the Roborock S50 and Roborock S6, it needs to charge up to 80% of power level before resuming cleaning.
● Larger water tank. The Roborock S5 Max offers a big 290ml water tank, which is much larger than the 140ml water tank on the Roborock S50 and Roborock S6. So the Roborock S5 Max will mop for a larger area with up to 185 square meters at once.
● Adjustable water output via app. On the Roborock S5 Max, you can control the water output via Roborock app, while you need to control the water output via the switch in the water tank on the Roborock S6. In addition, the Roborock S5 Max allows a different cleaning depending on the material of the floor. The robot can learn which areas are more sensitive than others, and which require more work, and apply the right amount of water in each case. This is particularly important for some users with different floor types and avoids damage.
● Removable main brush. Like the Roborock S6, the main brush on the Roborock S5 Max is also detachable. With that, you can easily detach it and remove the hairs or other entanglement on the brush. While the main brush of the Roborock S50 is non-removable.
● No-mop barriers. With the Roborock S5 Max, you can set no-mop zones and no-go lines, so you don’t need to worry about wetting the carpet.
Roborock S5 Max vs Roborock S50 vs Roborock S6: price and which one should you choose?
The new Roborock S5 Max is priced at $499 on Gearbest, which is between the Roborock S50 ($339.99) and Roborock S6 ($549).
Now, let’s talk about how to choose between them. First and foremost, you should think about your personal needs and your house environment.
If you have a large house with multiple floors like wood, ceramic tile, carpet, etc, and even have pets, the Roborock S5 Max is the best choice for you. As it offers large suction, more efficient cleaning, larger water tank, precise water output control and no-mop zone setting, which will bring you excellent and worry-free cleaning experience.
Compared to the Roborock S5 Max, the Roborock S6 has lower working noise and larger dust box capacity, and other specs are almost the same as the S5 Max. However, it will cost $549, which is $50 higher than the Roborock S5 Max.
The older model Roborock S50 is the cheapest one among the three Roborock vacuum cleaners, but it misses some features like adjustable water output control, removable main brush and offers less sensors.
